Reaction Roles Major Upgrade November 2023 – Discontinued Features

As part of the major upgrade and full rewrite of our Reaction Roles Discord bot, we’ve discontinued certain features that were either too complex or too little used to justify their continued support.

If you are one of the rare few affected by the discontinuation of one of these features and would like to discuss options and workarounds, please open a ticket in our Support server and let us know.

The following features and commands have been discontinued as of November 2023.

  • Roblox Requirements – There has been very little uptake of this feature since its introduction at the end of 2021. It also requires a complex integration with a 3rd party system (Roblox accounts). In order to simplify and stabilize our system, we have decided to discontinue this feature.
  • Reset Reactions (/resetreactions) – This feature was meant to provide a way for keeping the reaction count of a reaction at 1, even after users would click on the reaction. There was almost no use of this complex feature, so we have decided to discontinue it.
  • Role Member Counters (/rolemembercounter) – This feature counts each member in a set of roles and then posts a message to a channel with the counts for each role every 5 minutes. This is an extremely processing intensive feature that was used by very few users. We have thus decided to discontinue this feature.
  • Vote Direct Messages Command (/votedirectmessages) – This command allowed users, for 12 hours after voting for the Reaction Roles bot at Top.gg, to turn off the DMs sent by the bot when the user reacted and changed their roles. As of the major upgrade in November 2023, all voting has been discontinued and thus this command is no longer available. Users who wish to turn off DMs sent by the Reaction Roles bot can now become Supporters and gain access to the new /supporter directmessages command.
  • Re-React Command (/rereact) – This command was very seldom used and due to its complex and resource intensive nature was not included in the full rewrite of our Reaction Roles bot.
  • Edit Command (/edit) – The replacement for this command is to remove and re-add, for example with /reactionroles remove and then /reactionroles add.
